The Detroit Symphony Orchestra has great opportunity tomorrow for all of you! They are having a “Watch Party” on FaceBook Live @ 2:00 pm. They will be playing “The Suite from the Firebird” by Stravinsky. I usually use this piece of music with my 5th graders when we learn about theme and variation. Stravinsky takes a melody (the theme) and changes one or two things about that theme over and over again. Can you hear how he changes the music? It is faster or slower? Loud or soft? Maybe the rhythm changed. This is one of my favorite pieces of classical music and worth a listen.
