Thank goodness for beautiful sunshine the last day of April 🙂
Book orders and money are due by Wednesday, please.
Spirit Friday is Wear Pink Day 🙂
Spelling words this week are contractions–didn’t, they’ve, she’ll, he’s, wouldn’t. Dolch words: don’t, warm, never, myself, keep
We did have a math test last week so the scores will be sent home today. We’re starting another new unit which involves working with numbers past 100–being able to identify and draw using base 10 blocks and using expanded form (123=100 + 20 + 3) is the focus this week.
Our reading strategy will focus on reading 2 different types of texts about the same topic, then comparing and contrasting them over the next few weeks.
We will begin a unit on poetry the next 2 weeks. We do have a school wide poetry contest going on until May 12 for our annual Clean Up Day in May.
Social Studies continues our study of communities and problems they face and how they were solved. This week we’ll be using a book based on a real problem that a Pennsylvania community faced that we did as well. The polluting of a major river. I connect this book to what happened to the Rouge River and how individuals and companies were responsible for polluting it as well as pulling together to clean it up.
We continue our seed exploration this week comparing and contrasting different types of seeds. Next week we should be planting 🙂
Enjoy the week!
