Monday March 25, 2019

I’d like to thank the PTA for providing the pizza party our class won. There was a door decorating contest for March is reading month. That is why I sent home the owls for the students to assemble and decorate–they were the main part of the decoration. I painted a tree for our owls to sit in 🙂  Our class won for the Second grade. I just wanted to thank those of you in the PTA for continuing to support our students.

Our reading strategy this week will be asking questions throughout the text. We’ll be using a story for the week to practice this skill. Questions such as who, what, where, when, why, how to help understand key details of a story or text.

Spelling words this week focus on the long a sound: dare, rare, stare, fair, chair. Dolch words: any, pretty, does, does, read, every.

We’ll be finishing up module 4 in Math with an assessment, and I’ll also be weaving in skills from the next module. Same skills and strategies but with larger 3 digit numbers to add and subtract with.

We’re also finishing up our Social Studies economics unit and will have that assessment over 2 days: 1 for the computer section and 1 for the written part.

We’ll be finishing up our Earth science unit about land forms changing quickly and slowly.

I’m sure you won’t forget, but No School the week of April 1-5 for Spring Break. We’ll be back on April 8.

Enjoy the week 🙂
