We had a fun Valentine’s Day–I hope your children enjoyed going through their valentines 🙂 Thank you to everyone who sent something in. It made the day an enjoyable one!
Our WIDA testing begins this week, Tuesday and Wednesday and again next Monday.
Our Spelling words this week focus on 2 spelling versions of the same sound: oi, oy: moist, oil, broil, toy, royal. The Dolch words are these, made, walk, white, right.
Our math focus this week continue with 3 digit subtraction. The students are catching on to this but it does take time, no matter what method we use.
Our reading strategy is cycled back to story structure and retelling a story from beginning, middle, and end. With some stories this also included the lesson learned (if using folktales or fables)
We’re finishing up our informational writing this week, then moving on to narrative again.
We’re finishing up one social studies unit and will begin our unit on economics. This week focuses on scarcity–due to limited resources we can’t have all that we want.
In science this week, how rivers are formed because water flows down hill from mountains will be the lesson. We’ll make a mini mountain and see the water move.
Enjoy your week!
