Spelling words this week focus on the vowel u: cut, cute, tube, cub, jump. The Dolch reading words: pull, must, just, soon, they.

Our reading strategy this week is onomatopeia–words that stand for sounds in writing. The students always seem to have fun with this and throughout the year I usually have students who find onomatopeia words in their stories.

The writing focus for this week and next continues to be opinion writing tied in with Social Studies. The topic is a fun place in Dearborn and why. We’ll also be having our first social studies test on the computer Wed. A study guide will come home today for you to help your child review what we’ve been learning.

We’re finishing up our first math module that focused on fluency and accuracy with strategies for addition and subtraction within 100. We are learning many new methods and it all will cycle around throughout the year with this new program.
