Late Start Wednesday:  school begins at 9:35

We use dry erase markers for math. I have them but if your child would like to have their own, they can bring one to keep in their desk. Please make sure it’s dry erase and not a washable one.

Spelling words this week focus on e at the end changing the vowel to a long sound: cap, cape, ate, bake, back, can pick, make, black, cane.

Our reading strategy will be identifying character and setting in a week long story. The goal is for the students to take this strategy and apply it in their own reading.

We began a personal narrative (a true story about “me”). We will work on this story this week and next.

In math our focus continues to be fluency within 100. We’re learning how to make an easier problem within a larger one. For example, if they know 6+2=8, that will help them solve 26+2=28 and 86+2=88, etc.

Social Studies continues with learning about different communities. We’ll be comparing natural and human characteristics of our communities and others.

Science will begin a unit about the properties of matter. This will be a semester long unit.

Enjoy the week!
