Math-We are continuing on Module 3. We are focusing on multi-step area and perimeter problems involving multiplication. These have proven extremely challenging for the students so I will send home a few sheets over the break if you wish to help your student practice. These are not required sheets because I want the students to enjoy their time off and their time with the people in their lives.

Social Studies- We are looking at current populations in areas where many immigrants entered the USA.

Science-We are working on mapping our school campus for Michigan native animal habitats. We are going to start building projects including planting, building, and creating safe and sustainable habitats to bring more animals to the campus. We are focusing on bringing in the chemical potential energy in the form of lasting food supplies for animals that stay active during the cold winter months.

Writing- We are still working on our informational writing pieces on natural disasters. We will also be doing a few Thanksgiving writing activities.

Reading- We are starting to look at using text features to locate information without having to read the entire piece. This is an important skill as texts increase in size and time for students work becomes limited.

Have a great week and a Happy Thanksgiving if I do not speak with you before then!
