All students are currently using the computer to condusct research on thier chosen education topic. The assignemnt is to use the interenet to research an academic topic and use Microsoft Word to construct a typed two page research project.
Safety Skills in the Kitchen
Students over the last two weeks have been working with partners/small groups to develop an understanding of food safety/kitchen hazards. All classes muct learn these basic skills before our first cooking projects take place. When we return from our mid-winter break all lifeskills classes will soon begin to cook!

Advertisments
Students are currently creating an advertisment for a school activity. They must use many different funtions to create shapes, coloring and borders on the paper.
The Kitchen
Students have had the opportunity to cook a few recipes in December and will be cooking a few more. Next week students will make homemade pizza and having a pizza party. The last week of the semester students will learn about advertisements and consumerism. Each student will create an advertisement for a product of choice.
Time for child friendly foods and recipes
Teens and Tots students have learned all about ages and stages of children. It is now time for students to implement their knowledge and use it in the kitchen to prepare a few simple recipes that are child friendly. Students have learned how to work as a team and use safety skills in the kitchen while cooking. They will make approximately three recipes one of which each group creates their own recipe.
Lets Cook!
Students have learned all about safety in the kitchen, how to use kitchen equipment and how to work as a team. Students will be cooking three different projects over the next few weeks.
Transitioning from sewing to cooking
Students finished their sewing projects around Thanksgiving Break and have now been learning about the kitchen. Students will soon be able to apply their knowledge about cooking, and will work in groups to cook a few simple projects after the first of the year.
Wayne County Regional Enhancement Education Millage Proposal
School districts in Wayne County have placed a proposal on the November 8th ballot to provide added funding for our schools. It is the “Regional Enhancement Millage Proposal.”
If approved by the entire county, the 2 mil proposal will generate approximately $6.2 million from Dearborn but the District will receive $7.8 million in additional funding for our schools. Money would go to local schools starting this year and the millage expires after six years. Continue reading
