Weekly Objectives for October 16th- October 20th

Here is our week ahead:

Reading:

RI 4.4 – Determine the meaning of general academic and domain-specific words or phrases in a text relevant to a grade 4 topic or subject area.

RI 4.7 – Interpret information presented visually, orally, or quantitatively (e.g., in charts, graphs, diagrams, time lines, animations, or interactive elements on Web pages) and explain how the information contributes to an understanding of the text in which it appears. Determine the meaning of general academic and domain-specific words or phrases in a text relevant to a grade 4 topic or subject area.

Writing:

W.4.1 Write opinion pieces on topics or texts, supporting a point of view with reasons and information.
a. Introduce a topic or text clearly, state an opinion, and create an organizational structure in which related ideas are grouped to support the writer’s purpose.
b. Provide reasons that are supported by facts and details.
c. Link opinion and reasons using words and phrases (e.g. for instance, in order to, in addition).
d. Provide a concluding statement or section related to the opinion presented.

Math:

4.NBT.2 Read and write multi-digit whole numbers using base-ten numerals, number names, and expanded form. Compare two multi-digit numbers based on meanings of the digits in each place, using >, =, and < symbols to record the results of comparisons.
Ability to compare to numbers using greater than, less than, and equal to.
Ability to read and write larger whole numbers using numerals, words and in expanded form.

Social Studies:

 4-G1.0.5 Use maps to describe elevation, climate, and patterns of population density in the United States

Science:

PS3.B Conservation of energy and energy transfer. PS3.D Energy in chemical processes and everyday life.

Academic Vocabulary:

NEW SHIRTS!!

The students brought home new Miller Mustang shirts today.  Mr. Awada would like the children to wear them to school on Fridays throughout the year.  Tomorrow, we will be going to an anit-bullying assembly so it will be great to see everyone wearing their new shirts!

I cannot wait to see the whole class wearing their new school shirts! 🙂
