There will be a PTA- parent meeting  today at 2:00 P.M. in the cafeteria.  Please plan to attend this meeting, it is very important to be involved in your child’s education.

Weekly Objectives January 16th- January 20th

I hope you enjoyed your long week end .  We will be taking NWEA tests this week.

Here is our objectives for this week:

Reading:

RI.4.9 Integrate information from two texts on the same topic in order to write or speak about the subject knowledgeably.

  • L.4.1(f) Produce complete sentences, recognizing and correcting inappropriate fragments and run-ons. 

Math:

4.NBT.5 Multiply a whole number of up to four digits by a one-digit whole number, and multiply two two-digit numbers, using strategies based on place value and the properties of operations. Illustrate and explain the calculation by using equations, rectangular arrays, and/or area models.

  •  concentrate on 2 digits by 2 digits

Science:

  • Members Present:S.IP.04.15 Make accurate measurements with appropriate units (millimeters centimeters, meters, milliliters, liters, Celsius, grams, seconds, minutes) for the measurement tool.
  • S.IP.04.14 Manipulate simple tools that aid observation and data collection (for example: hand lens, balance, ruler, meter stick, measuring cup, thermometer, spring scale, stop watch/timer, graduated cylinder/beaker).
  • S.IP.04.15 Make accurate measurements with appropriate units (millimeters centimeters, meters, milliliters, liters, Celsius, grams, seconds, minutes) for the measurement tool.

Writing: Opinion writing-

  • Write opinion pieces on topics or texts, supporting a point of view with reasons and information.
  •  Introduce a topic or text clearly, state an opinion, and create an organizational structure in which related ideas are grouped to support the writer’s purpose.
  •  Provide reasons that are supported by facts and details.
  • Link opinion and reasons using words and phrases (e.g. for instance, in order to, in addition).
  •  Provide a concluding statement or section related to the opinion presented.

Social Studies:

  • 4-C1.0.3 Describe the purposes of government as identified in the preamble of the Constitution.
  • 4-C3.0.2 Give examples of powers granted to the federal government

 

 

 

NWEA Test

We will be taking the NWEA test next week. Here is our temporary schedule:

  • On Tuesday, January 17th – we will be taking NWEA- Science .
  • On Wednesday, January 18th – we will be taking NWEA-Language Arts.
  • On Thursday,January 19th – we will be taking NWEA- Math.
  • On Friday, January 20th – we will be taking NWEA- Reading.

Please make sure you are visiting the NWEA Reading and Math Practice sites under our Class Links.  Also, go to Moby Max and Myon to prepare for our tests.  The students are showing so much growth this year!  I am excited to see how well they will do on these tests! 🙂
