Weekly Objectives- May 21st – May 25th

Reading:  RL 4.5 – Explain major differences between poems, drama, and prose, and refer to the structural elements of poems (e.g., verse, rhythm, meter) and drama (e.g., casts of characters, settings, descriptions, dialogue, stage directions) when writing or speaking about a text.

Writing: W.4.1 Write opinion pieces on topics or texts, supporting a point of view with reasons and information. a. Introduce a topic or text clearly, state an opinion, and create an organizational structure in which related ideas are grouped to support the writer’s purpose. b. Provide reasons that are supported by facts and details. c. Link opinion and reasons using words and phrases (e.g. for instance, in order to, in addition). d. Provide a concluding statement or section related to the opinion presented.

Math: 4.MD.1 Know relative sizes of measurement units within one system of units including km, m, cm; kg, g; lb, oz.; l, ml; hr, min, sec. Within a single system of measurement, express measurements in a larger unit in terms of a smaller unit. Record measurement equivalents in a two- column table. For example, know that 1 ft is 12 times as long as 1 in. Express the length of a 4 ft snake as 48 in. Generate a conversion table for feet and inches listing the number pairs (1, 12), (2, 24), (3, 36)

Science:4-LS1-1 Construct an argument that plants and animals have internal and external structures that function to support survival, growth, behavior, and reproduction.

Social studies: 4 – E1.0.1: Identify questions economists ask in examining the United States (e.g., What is produced? How is it produced? How much is produced? Who gets what is produced? What role does the government play in the economy?).

Tomorrow is a late start.  I would like to wish all the students and parents observing the month of Ramadan a healthy fasting and rewarded deeds.  This week I am not assigning any homework / just this week/ until the students adjust in their sleep schedule.  I will be reviewing and doing most of the activities in class.  However, the students must study their spelling and read on Myon and Mobymax!

 

Weekly Objectives-Week of May 14th

This week we will begin DRA and NWEA testing.  We also have field day on Monday.    Here is what our week looks like:

Reading:  Explain how an author uses reasons and evidence to support particular points in a text.

Math:  4.G.3 Recognize a line of symmetry for a two-dimensional figure as a line across the figure such that the figure can be folded along the line into matching parts. Identify line-symmetric figures and draw lines of symmetry.

Science: How do organisms live, grow, respond to their environment, and reproduce? LS2: How and why do organisms interact with their environment and what are the effects of these interactions?

Social Studies:  Describe how positive (e.g., responding to a sale, saving money, earning money) and negative (e.g., library fines, overdue video rental fees) incentives influence behavior in a market economy. 4 – E1.0.5: Explain how specialization and division of labor increase productivity (e.g., assembly line).
4 – H3.0.5: Use visual data and informational text or primary accounts to compare a major Michigan economic activity today with that same or a related activity in the past.
