This week our second grade students will be working on:
Reading: Students will learn to describe how characters in a story respond to major events and challenges.
Math: Students will learn to measure the length of an object by selecting and using appropriate tools such as rulers, yardsticks, meter sticks, and measuring tapes.
Writing: Students will work on writing narratives in which they recount a well-elaborated event or short sequence of events, include details to describe actions, thoughts, and feelings, use temporal words to signal event order, and provide a sense of closure.
Science: Students will continue to learn about structure and properties of matter. We will be sorting, investigating and discussing rocks.
Social Studies-Students will understand that communities are places where people live, work and play. They will compare the physical and human characteristics of the local community with those of another community.
