Academic Vocabulary:

Reading:  RI 4.7 – Interpret information presented visually, orally, or quantitatively (e.g., in charts, graphs, diagrams, timelines, animations, or interactive elements on Web pages) and explain how the information contributes to an understanding of the text in which it appears.

Writing: CCSS: W.4.2 Write informative/explanatory texts to examine a topic and convey ideas and information clearly.

Math: CCSS: Solve Problems Involving Measurement And Conversion Of Measurements From A Larger Unit To A Smaller Unit.

CCSS: 4.MD.3 Apply the area and perimeter formulas for rectangles in real world and mathematical problems. For example, find the width of a rectangular room given the area of the flooring and the length, by viewing the area formula as a multiplication equation with an unknown factor. Ability to apply knowledge of factors, finding an unknown factor in an equation, and the relationship between multiplication and area. Ability to apply knowledge of the relationship between area and perimeter through the exploration of rectangles with the same area but different perimeters or rectangles with the same perimeter by different area.

Science: 4-LS1-1 Construct an argument that plants and animals have internal and external structures that function to support survival, growth, behavior, and reproduction.

Social studies: Standards: 4 – C5.0.1: Explain responsibilities of citizenship (e.g., initiating changes in laws or policy, holding public office, respecting the law, being informed and attentive to public issues, paying taxes, registering to vote and voting knowledgeably, serving as a juror). 4 – P3.1.1: Identify public issues in the United States that influence the daily lives of its citizens.
