Weekly Objectives for October 9th- October 13th

  • This week,  Thursday, October 12th, Miller will be having a PTA Meeting at 9:00.  After the meeting, parents will be allowed to visit classrooms to see our students doing some great learning.
  • Friday, October 13, 2017, will be a half day.  Dismissal is at 11:45.

Here is our week ahead:

Reading:

RI 4.1 – Refer to details and examples in a text when explaining what the text says explicitly and when drawing inferences from the text. RI 4.2 – Determine the main idea of a text and explain how it is supported by key details; summarize the text.

Writing: 

Finish our writing narrative piece and start on the opinion writing.    W.4.1 Write opinion pieces on topics or texts, supporting a point of view with reasons and information.

Math:

4.NBT.2 Read and write multi-digit whole numbers using base-ten numerals, number names, and expanded form. Compare two multi-digit numbers based on meanings of the digits in each place, using >, =, and < symbols to record the results of comparisons.
Ability to compare to numbers using greater than, less than, and equal to.
Ability to read and write larger whole numbers using numerals, words and in expanded form.

Social Studies:

4 – G1.0.2: Use cardinal and intermediate directions to describe the relative location of significant places in the United States.
4 – G1.0.3: Identify and describe the characteristics and purposes (e.g., measure distance, determine relative location, classify a region) of a variety of geographic tools and technologies (e.g., globe, map, satellite image).
4 – G1.0.4: Use geographic tools and technologies, stories, songs, and pictures to answer geographic questions about the United States.

Science:

PS3.A: Definitions of energy- Energy can be moved from place to place by moving objects or through sound, light, or electric currents.

PS3.B: Conservation of energy and energy transfer- Energy can also be transferred from place to place by electric currents, which can then be used locally to produce motion, sound heat, or light. The currents may have been produced to begin with by transforming the energy of motion into electrical energy.

PS3.D: Energy in chemical processes and everyday life – The expression “produce energy” typically refers to the conversion of stored energy into a desired form for practical use.
