Wednesday 4/1

Happy April Everyone!!!!

Hopefully the weather will get better soon and we will be able to enjoy the sun again.

We’ve learned so much about the 3 branches of government. We’ve even wrote about them. Can you name them? That’s right! The 3 branches of government are the Executive, Legislative, and the Judicial branches. They each have a job and help to keep things balanced. Today you will be watching a short video on the 3 branches than you will create a drawing that illustrates what each branch looks like to you.

Tuesday 3/31

Good Afternoon friends,

This week we are working on recounting stories using pictures and words. Did you try logging into the JLG site I posted yesterday? There are a ton of free online books to read. To help you recount these stories I am attaching a video today to go over the main parts we think of when we recount. Enjoy!

Monday 3/30

Good Morning,

I hope you all had a great weekend and are staying safe. Be sure to frequently wash your hands and for at least 20 seconds with soap.

Some things to remember to complete through out the week are:

-Read for at least 30 minutes a day
-I-Ready for a total of 45 minutes this week with a pass rate of 80%
-Zearn for a total of 30 minutes a week
-Make sure you are checking your teachers blog to complete work

I am reposting a resource for FREE read alouds. Each day this week listen to one book and then complete a retell in pictures using this comic strip.

Follow this site for FREE read-alouds.

Friday 3/27

Good Afternoon!!!!

Rain, rain, go away! It’s been very rainy and cloudy out. The weather is constantly changing. Today we will be looking at two read alouds: “Come on, Rain!” by Karen Hesse and “Rainy Weather Days,” by Pam Rosenberg. After you’re finished complete this writing prompt:

You might have heard the saying, “It’s raining cats and dogs.” If you could make it rain any two things you wanted, what would you choose?

• Write about your special rainstorm. What would be falling from the clouds and why?

• Draw a picture of it.

Here is the link to the read alouds: https://classroommagazines.scholastic.com/support/learnathome/grades-1-2.html

The read alouds are located under day 2.

Thursday 3/26

Hello Friends!!!!!

Listen to this read aloud and then retell the story to someone in your family. Make sure you share what the lesson was to. Make sure to use transition words like first, next, after that, and last when you retell.

When you’re finished with your retell, use this stem to explain the lesson of the story: The lesson of the story was_________________.

Wednesday 3/25

Hello 3rd Graders,

Tomie DePaolo was one of my favorite authors when I was your age. “Jaime O’Rourke and the Big Potato,” was one of my favorite stories. Here is a read aloud of this book. Make sure to answer these comprehension questions when you are done.

What was the central message of the story?
Who are the main characters and where is the setting?
What connections did you make while reading this story?

Monday 3/23

Today let’s practice identifying the long e and the short e sounds. Go through each slide and use the pictures to help you. Stretch out the word and listen in to the parts you hear. Do you hear the long e sound like see? Do you hear the short e sound like bread? Have fun and comment with any questions you may have.

Day 2

Follow this site for FREE read-alouds. Choose one book you listened to each day and retell the story in either pictures or words or write about 3 things you learned.
