This week I have posted 2 videos instead of video conferencing. Next week we will resume video conferencing through the Dearborn Schools Website. Hopefully all issues and hiccups will be resolved by then. The first video will be posted on Monday and then on Wednesday. I am reading a new book and a classroom favorite. Please have your child watch and then complete the assignments posted. Thank you for your understanding and patience.
Please come on Wednesday, May 6 to pick up the rest of your child’s math workbooks. The teachers were able to get into the classrooms for a bit last week to gather these materials for your child. I have Module 6-8 classroom books and homework books available. Plus, if you didn’t get Module 4 when we left back in March, those are ready too. Ms. Fournier will place the books outside and you can drive through and pick them up between 11-2. Thanks.
Yesterday was our first try with the new video conferencing platform. We had several problems with sound and features not working properly. After talking with other teachers, I discovered they had issues too. Later in the day, the district sent an email explaining the amount of people using this video conferencing exceeded its capacity. Those in the Technology Department are working very diligently to increase that capacity. So for the time being, I am cancelling further video conferencing until all the “bugs” are worked out. My plan now is to send 2 videos next week of me reading a book and assigning a couple questions. I’ll post these videos on Google Classroom. Again, thank you for your patience during this ever changing time.

This new way is different from Hangouts so I’ll send you a schedule of days and times and not an invite like before. I’m keeping the groups, days and times the same. I hope everyone is well and rested. This week brings a bit of uncertainty in regards to video conferencing with your children. Last week we had some security issues and as a result, the teachers will not be using Google Hangouts to connect with the students. So as soon as I learn the new way to connect, I will send you instructions and then we can begin again.
New assignments have been posted to Google Classroom and more to come.
A reminder of work (15 min for each subject): Raz kids– I assigned books and quizzes. Moby Max– all subjects. Zearn– Module 5 Lesson 5-9 and that includes the math homework book. WOW– One each day. I posted May calendar of topics in Google Classroom. Spelling– words posted in G. classroom. Science– Mystery Science and activities in G. classroom. Social Studies- Then and Now work in G. classroom.
For those ahead in Math or beyond Module 5 in Zearn, I have posted a link just for those students to Eureka math lessons, videos and worksheets to complete. Some of the videos are lengthy so if your child is frustrated, tired, etc, then please take a break or stop. This is extra or bonus work.
With the increased expectations for remote learning, we will host two additional dates for Howe students to borrow a Chromebook. Chromebook distribution is scheduled for Monday 4/27 from 10:00-1:00 and Tuesday 4/28 from 11:00-2:00. Parents will pull up curbside and their chromebook will be brought out to them. A signature will be required. Please notify your child’s teacher if you plan to pick up a Chromebook so we can have one ready for you.
Good morning all! I have moved all the science assignments from “Ms. Truxall’s Science Class” to the original “Ms. Truxall’s Class”. Students should be able to see Science along with spelling, wow, etc. I also added a Social Studies assignment too.
