Dear Parents,

      Our annual Cultural Event is fast approaching.  This year it will be on Friday, June 7 at 1:00.   Our play will be held in the gym here at Howe.  Mrs Jinn, Mrs. Polster, Mrs. Keebler and Ms. Truxall’s classes will be performing Africa .  Our class has begun studying Eastern African Nations with handwriting, coloring pictures, researching, poster making and other activities.  Attached, are your child’s lines that need to be memorized for Cultural Event. Our class will be singing songs that they have been practicing during Music class.  Costumes may be worn. Traditional dress for this region of Africa is typically brightly colored cloth that wraps around. See the following website for ideas- www.jenmansafaris.com/what-people-wear-in-different-african-countries.  Please keep costumes simple and not complicated.  All students are to memorize the passage and be able to read it slowly and clearly by June 7.  This is a very busy and exciting time for the children.  The Cultural Event will be memorable!

      If your son/daughter will not be participating, please inform me as soon as possible.

Students will have a math test this coming Monday, May 20.  I am sending home a practice test tonight.  Sorry for the short notice.

FIELD TRIP PERMISSION FORM

LOCATION: Matthaei Botanical Gardens- Ann Arbor

DATE: Thursday, May 30

TIME: 9:15am to 1:30pm

COST: Free (District Paid Trip)

METHOD OF TRANSPORTATION:   SCHOOL BUS

NOTES:  Permission slip required to attend the field trip. Please bring a bag lunch and a drink.  No restaurants located at the Gardens.

Your written permission and waiver of liability are required for transportation of your son/daughter to a school-sponsored activity as detailed above.

Thank you for all the lovely flowers, thank you cards, special notes, gift cards, donated money for the teacher’s luncheon and supplies for the classroom.   What a fabulous week.  I truly appreciate it!!! Thank you.

The spelling words are  hid, went wrote spoke sold stood told made gone began.  Academic Vocabulary are control, experiment, light, soil, plant.

I am sending you the complete list of spelling words for this week.  Sorry I am out sick again.  I’ll hopefully be in tomorrow.
