We will be going to the Dearborn Historical Museum on Monday, March 23 from 9:00-11:45. We will be riding the bus. Chaperones are needed and can ride the bus too, or drive yourself there. We will be sharing a bus with River Oaks. The cost is $5 per student. Chaperones are free! We will eat lunch at school when we return from the trip. I am sending a permission slip today!

March is Reading Month
3-2-20
Dear Howe Parents,
The March is Reading Month theme this year will be “Books from Around the World”. Each classroom will choose a book from a country and read it. Classrooms will visit each other to hear other teachers read new stories to them. We will have a map to color for each country visited. Each room will also decorate their classroom door with the book theme and country. The winner of the door decorating contest will get a party paid for by the PTA. We will also have a Reading Participation Contest too! Students are expected to:
- Read 20 minutes each night.
- Fill out a reading log passport and send the log in each Monday. The teacher will stamp the reading log. At the end of the month, all students that participated will get a small prize. They will also get a participation ticket and be entered into a drawing. The Montessori student prizes will be one girl and one boy bike. The participation winner for Special Ed will receive an appropriate prize for that specific student.
- The classroom with the most participation will also earn a party.
Other events happening this month include the Scholastic Book Fair on March 18, 19 and 20, as well as a Book Swap towards the end of the month. More information to come home soon about these. We will also have an assembly at the end of the month to announce the winner of the bikes, Special Ed. prize, door decorating contest winner and the class with the most participation. Happy Reading, Howe Staff

March is Reading Month- Parent Readers!
Our class would like to invite parents to come and read books to our class. We did this last year and the children really enjoyed this time. Ms. Truxall’s class is available for 15 minutes on Tuesdays and Thursdays this month from 3:00-3:15. Those dates are March 3 and 5, 10 and 12, 17 and 19, 24 and 26, 31. Please email me which day you prefer to come and read to us. Then on your day, come to class and read picture books or chapters in a chapter book to the students. The books are your choice. Your son/daughter can help you make that decision. Please do not bring any treats for the children this year. Thanks.
No Homework But…
So I told the class today that they could take the Spelling Test today or on Monday since they didn’t have time to work on the activities during class much this week. Those that didn’t take the test today and those that need to retake the test should study over the weekend!
Lego Club starts today!!

March is Reading Month will begin soon. We have all sorts of activities planned. Our theme this year is “Books Around the World”. We will decorate our classroom door with our book theme and country. Plus, we have a chance to win the door decorating contest too! If we win, we get a PTA paid party!! Ms. Truxall’s class is doing the book called “Finding Winnie”. It is the true story of the World’s Most Famous Bear= Winnie the Pooh! Winnie, the actual bear, stayed at the London Zoo for many years during World War 1. So our door needs to be decorated with a London, England theme tying in Winnie the Pooh. We have paper and some London decorations to start. I am looking for a couple of parents to help with the door decorating. It has to be done by Monday, March 2. If you are interested, please email me. I’ll choose the first couple of parents that respond. Thanks!
