The students are very interested in learning more about  Aztecs. I am excited for them.   Many of them want to do independent researches on the subject.  Here at school, we have filters on our computers that will not allow students on to sites that have violence.  I am concerned about them doing a research at home.  Please, if your child is interested in researching at home, please look at the sites before allowing your child on to the site.  The Aztecs are known for sacrifices and I do not want them to see anything violent.  Thanks for your help.

The 2nd grade math group will be having a test on Monday, May 2.  Practice tests went  home yesterday.

Next week begins Teacher Appreciation Week.  I will be sending home a note with themes for each day.  The PTA is asking parents to donate $5 for a teacher’s luncheon by next Tuesday, May 3.  Thanks!

Today is the Color Run at Helm’s Haven Park on Hines Drive.  We will begin walking over at 2:45.  Students will take all their items because we will be dismissing from there.  We will not be walking back for dismissal.  Please pick your child up there at 3:35.  Those who go to Kid’s Club will walk back with me and dismiss to Kid’s Club when we return.  We have paper towels for children to wipe clean but you may want to put a towel in your car just in case we are really messy. :>  Should be lots of fun!!!

Our class is scheduled to take the Spring NWEA test next Wednesday and Thursday, May 4 and 5.  Please be sure your child has enough rest and a full breakfast on those two days.  Also, be sure to bring your child to school on time!  We will begin promptly at 9.

The table in the hallway is filled with winter lost and found items.  Please come and look through the pile for your child’s clothing because all items will be donated May 2.

Today students will be bringing home SS homework.  It is due on Friday.  Please write all business that you shop at for the next 3 days including today.  If you do not shop before Friday, students may turn it in on Monday.  Thanks!

Last month was the last of Book-It for the year.  Most students met the goal each month.  In fact, this class had the most students meet his/her goal than any other class I’ve had in the 15 years at Howe!!!!  For students who completed 5 out of the 6 months and 6 out of the 6 months, received a book to keep and enjoy. Keep reading even though Book-It is done!

On Friday, students brought home a permission slip for the Color Run on Wednesday, April 27.  Please return with $5 by this Wednesday, April 20.  Sounds like a fun time!

Tomorrow is the field trip to Ann Arbor.  We are leaving at 9.  All chaperones please sign in at the office first, check in with me and then wait in the cafeteria until we are ready to leave.  Remember if the bus is too crowded or if you’d just rather drive yourselves, there is a structure near the museum for you to park.  Try to ride with other chaperones if possible to save money for parking.  See you then!
