Good Morning Ms. Truxall’s Class

It is Monday, April 13 and I hope all of you and your family are doing well! Some changes to Home School today. The first is over the break I set up Google Classroom for us to use for assignments. Please go to the student page on the Dearborn website. Click on Clever and then scroll down to find Google Classroom. At some point, you’ll be asked to use your school username and password. All of you know this but I’ll remind you that it is your 201number @dearbornschools.org. Your password is your birthday. Then once inside Google Classroom click the large + sign at the top of the page. Click on join class. Then put in the Class Code. The code is gv5utec. Then you are in and you will see 2 assignments to do this week. Spelling and Mystery Science! Have fun.

The 2nd change I made was to give you an assignment in RazKids. I assigned each of you a book to read and a quiz to take.

Please also remember to continue working on Zearn. No matter where you are in Zearn, please do one lesson a day. That is another change to your work. That also means to do one lesson a day in your homework book this week.

Continue on ABCya, and continue on your WOW journal.

Happy Learning this week. Next week we will have more changes.

Report Cards!

Elementary Report Cards for Marking Period 3 are currently being processed and will be available to parents in ParentConnect, Monday, April 6, 2020. Student marks were calculated based on work assigned through March 12.

Following is some information on how parents can access report card data in MIStar ParentConnect. Please note that if you have more than one child, you should be able to see data for all your children and you do not need separate logins for the different schools (if your children attend more than one school).

How do parents login to ParentConnect? To login to ParentConnect, parents need their PIN and password; this is how it is obtained: Parents go to the Dearborn Schools’ website (dearbornschools.org) and then the ParentConnect link. If they don’t know the login info, they click (Need Your Login Information) link and it will prompt them to enter their email address (as provided to the school and entered in MIStar), and then click Submit. This process emails them their PIN and Password. After logging in, click on “report card marks” module.

Happy Thursday 4/2

How is everyone? Hope all is well and everyone is healthy and happy. Keep going with your home school routines. You are doing so well! Continue working on all the websites and your math homework book. Also keep working on your biography. A few of you sent me your final copy of the paper. I didn’t give a due date but try to get it done by next Thursday, April 9. Thank you.

Happy Tuesday!

Miss you all so much! Hope all is well with you and your family. Just wanted to remind you to work on your Eureka Math Succeed Homework Math Book. Work on 3-5 lessons for the week. Many of you are ahead in Zearn. Hip, Hip, Hooray for you! Awesome job. Keep going with Zearn. I hope you are enjoying Epic. There are a lot of wonderful books for you to read! Keep working hard!

Monday, March 30

Good Morning Class!! We are beginning week 3 of Home School. This week’s Spelling words are: chore, roar, board, snore, wore, shore, oar, aboard, score, tore. Academic Vocabulary words are non-living, plan, revise, energy, exercise.

Home Work Reminders: Students should work on Zearn, Moby Max, Raz kids and Epic for reading, Journal-writing each day, Spelling and ABC ya. I’d also like the students to complete our Biography that we has started on couple weeks ago.

Biography- Before the school shut down, our class was working on biographies. We used the website Ducksters.com and google docs to work on the paper. I’d like the students to revisit our work, complete the biography and send it to me via google docs. The famous people they could choose from included, Sacagawea, Neil Armstrong, Henry Ford, and Rosa Parks. Some of the children wanted to choose from the previous list we already wrote about. They included George Washington, Abraham Lincoln or Martin Luther King Jr. Anyway, the criteria for the paper is to have an interesting beginning, introduce the famous person, include birth and death dates(if applicable), include interesting facts, tell why they are famous or what are they well-known for, and an interesting ending. The paper should be at least 5 – 8 sentences long. Students can use Ducksters.com to research information about their person and use google docs to write the report. We, as a class, have discussed how important is is NOT to copy the words from ducksters but to rewrite the information into your own words. This can be a challenge and where your child may need your help and guidance. Pictures from the internet can be included in the report. I have not had a chance to instruct the students how to include a picture so that portion is optional. Almost everyone had started the report so your child should be able to find it his/her google docs. Let me know if you have any questions.
