Reading Log

No Math

Tomorrow will be the last day to turn in the Summer Reading Logs.

Next week Wednesday, September 11 and Thursday, September 12 we will have the Reading and Math tests. Please be sure your child has a good night’s sleep and has a healthy breakfast in the morning. Thank you!

Math Lesson 2 page 9 and 10. On page 9, please do #1 a and b, #2 all and #3 the first 4 problems. For a challenge, students may complete all of page 9. Page 10 is a timed activity and students should go as far as they can in 90 seconds. Thanks

Reading Log- Today I am sending home the Reading Log. Each night, 2nd graders are expected to read for 20 min. Please write the date, title, author and time spent reading for each night. The Reading Log is copied on both sides. Please keep in Red, Communication Folder at all times. I will check the logs in the mornings. When it is filled, I will send a new one home. Thank you.

I am sending home the Succeed Eureka Math Book for Grade 2 Modules 1-3.  Keep this book at home. I will blog each time I finish a lesson and what the homework will be for that evening.  Please remove the paper from the book, have your child complete the work, write his/her name and return it in the Communication Folder the next day.  Your child is then responsible for removing the homework from his/her folder and putting it into the Math Homework Bin. There is a page in the book for each lesson that is a homework helper page.  Please refer to it when assisting your child. Helpers do not need to be returned. Please let me know if you have any questions.

Please join us tomorrow for Open House from 6-7:30.. Come and see your child’s classroom, sign up for conferences and meet the teacher. PTA meeting is that night as well at 7. Hope to see all of you there!!

Homework will begin tonight. I will send home the Home Journal and a calendar for September and October with journal writing ideas. Students must complete a journal entry for Tuesday and Thursday of each and every week of school. The calendar has more ideas than your child will need. Read through them together and let your child choose the topic of interest to write about. The journal entry needs the date, 3-5 sentences and a picture. Please let your child work on his/her own. Return the journals the next day. I will periodically check that work is being completed. Please email me if you have questions. Thank you.
