We have been taking the NWEA test.

Tips to prepare for any test:
~Make sure your child gets a good night’s sleep before a test, and make sure your child eats properly the day of a test.
~ƒEnsure that your child is present during testing (children generally perform better when taking tests in their groups rather than at a make-up time).

~Get your child to school on time the day of the test.
~Wish your child good luck each morning of the test.
~Remind your child the test is important. Encourage him/her to do his/her best.

~ƒEncourage your child to stay focused on the test, even if other students finish early.

Constitution Day!

September 17 is Constitution day.

Today we learned about the United States Constitution. The Constitution is the highest law in the United States. All other laws come from the Constitution. It was written in 1787. In 1787, a group of men met to write the Constitution. They did not like the way the country was going. They fixed it by creating the Constitution. We call these men The Framers. The Constitution gives us rights. The Bill of Rights is a part of the Constitution. The Bill of Rights protect your right to say what you want. The Bill of Rights keep all Americans safe.Stock Photo of the Consitution of the United States and Feather Quill

Welcome to Fifth Grade

Welcome to Fifth Grade

Dear parents,

Welcome to fifth grade at Salina Intermediate! I am thrilled to be your child’s teacher and I know this will be an awesome year. This is my second year at Salina Intermediate. I’m excited to be teaching fifth grade this year.

I want an open communication between us. If at any time you have a question, I will be happy to talk with you. Either, write me a note, give me a call, or email me and I will try to respond as soon as possible. I want you to feel well informed throughout the year. Classroom expectations are:

1. Listen and follow directions
2. Raise your hand before speaking or leaving seat
3. Respect your classmates and your teachers
4. Keep hands, feet, and objects to yourself.

Welcome again to a wonderful year!
