We can’t believe that September has already passed and we are moving into the fall.  The students have already completed their first summative assessment by completing the “All About Me” poem.  We are finally finished with our testing for the beginning of the year.  Your students should have thier new RIT (NWEA) reading score, the Lexile conversion and their grade level equivalent of that score.  This will give them an opportunity to choose books that are directly in that range.

The standing homework is reading 20 minutes a night for 5 nights a week.  Your students should have a small bookmark that they are filling out with the title of the book and the time read.  This week the bookmark will be yellow – this is the third bookmark you should be seeing. They should be asking you to sign it each time they read.  We are also beginning a “Book Timeline” so they might be asking you to print out book covers at home.  The project covers the books that are important to them from birth to now.
