This week students worked on the grammar components of comma usage, underlining vs. using quotation marks, and apostrophe’s during Daily Oral Language. We also discussed Point of View and created a foldable with notes in our interactive notebooks. There will be a short Quick Review (quiz) on this material Tuesday or Wednesday of next week.

Students were introduced to Read Theory, a fantastic website which can help build reading comprehension skills. WE have been working on it in class, and it will soon be part of a student’s at home reading. Please ask your child about it.

Also, students have received their NWEA reading score. It is written in their planner. Please ask your child to explain their score to you. Also have them teach you HOW to find a GOOD FIT book using their Lexile score! (Lexile.com) is a great resource.

CLASSROOM EXPECTATIONS: STUDENTS SHOULD BE READING 20 MINUTES A NIGHT, 5 DAYS PER WEEK (PICK YOUR DAYS).STUDENTS ARE EXPECTED TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THEIR OUTSIDE READING AT ANY TIME DURING OUR CLASS!
