Celebrities of the Week!!!

Today the students finished writing about Growing Up as they were instructed to begin on Friday. All students shared what they wrote with each other and some shared with the entire class.

After, the students read a poem by Billy Collins entitled, “On Turning Ten”. Students used the R.A.T.E. method to understand this poem on a deeper level including recognizing all the metaphors present. The theme is to focus on growing up and the feelings felt toward the subject from multiple authors.

Homework:

Students received new Reading Logs today. They should read for 20 minutes and have parents sign upon completion of each reading day.
