Celebrities of the Day!!!
Today the students reviewed identifying different genres by engaging in a gallery walk activity. After a quick review of each genre students were given instruction to use their “Guess the Genre” worksheet to walk around the room to different examples of literature and texts that represent each genre. They were to examine each photo and accompanying text to determine which genre it was representing. The students were put into groups and designated to one of ten genre presentations and rotated clockwise through each example.
The students also began writing a “Come With Me” poem that required them to use sensory details (five senses) to describe in a specific detail a place they have been. They were to focus microscopically on a place (not just “the beach” but “pebble beach in Monterey, California”). If they did not finish describing each of the five senses for their location, they are to finish it for homework.

Finish describing their “Come With Me” location using details of their five senses: See, Hear, Smell, Touch, Taste.
