Celebrities of the day!!!

Today we introduced the R.A.T.E close reading method for students to use to better understand the text. They applied the R.A.T.E method to an informational text entitled, “Surviving Hurricane Sandy”.

R ead- Read along using pen or pencil and make                      comments.

A nnotate- Take notes while reading. Highlight                                   important details.

T hink- Place question marks next to the text that is                   confusing. Ask questions to the text.

E ncode- Transfer text into words that are more                              understandable. 

Every student will be given a progress report Tuesday in class. Please ask your child to show it to you.

Homework: Students were asked to finish applying the R.A.T.E method to the article, “Surviving Hurricane Sandy”.

Complete Learning from Disasters worksheet, Column 1.

Study for Editing Marks quiz on Wednesday if student has not received 100% on the quiz yet.

Read for 20 minutes.
