I will accept late work for the make up assignments in iLearn. Please make sure you submit a single document with all of the work you want to make up. I will wait until the last possible moment to submit grades to make sure you have enough time to finish, but I estimate I will do the grades at noon on Thursday. I would not try to submit anything after that because I may miss it.
Today’s meeting moved to Tuesday
Sorry, but I have another meeting today at one. I’ll be on the video chat Tuesday at one instead.
Change to meeting schedule
Due to some conflicts this week, I am not requiring meetings, but I will still host them Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday from 1PM to about 2:30PM. I will make sure there is a BBB link on iLearn.
Please stop by to check in, ask questions, or just say hi. I am sorry that the end of this year has been so chaotic. Please reach out to me if you need anything.
Last Week of Work
This week is a make up week. Here are the rules:
- You must still attend the meetings at the correct time and participate.
- You must fill out the end of year survey linked on iLearn.
- Check Student Connect for your grades. The last two weeks will get updated in the next few days.
- If you are missing any grades (they will be blank since I didn’t put in 0s) or want to improve any score, you may submit that assignment as a google doc into the make up assignment submission on iLearn. (email submissions do not count)
Everything is still due Sunday
There was an error in the iLearn assignment with the wrong due date. It is now fixed to say that the assignment is due Sunday night (just like all of your other assignments).
Assignment for the week of May 26th
Assignment for next week:
- This is optional if you got a 3 or 4 on the last assignment and you do not need to make up any work.
- This is required for everyone else and MUST BE PROPERLY SUBMITTED TO ILEARN
- Write one paragraph to describe your objects and their materials. You can use the sentence stems, but you will need to add more to make it a good paragraph.
- Make sure you have an image of the periodic table with the elements from your objects filled in with at least the correct elemental symbol.
- Write 2 paragraphs describing the things you know about the elements based on the periodic table. This should include the sentence stems from the last page of the document from last week.
- Read and edit your document for errors and clarity. Just copy/pasting your sentence stems will not be enough.
- Submit this to iLearn as a google doc or PDF.
This is an automated post, so the assignment may not be visible yet on iLearn. Be patient and give your work another round of reading and editing.
Announcement from school:
If you have items in your hallway or gym locker that you want to pick up, click on this link and fill out the form: https://forms.gle/V8YJweLi19jPGVxk7.
Complete it by this Friday, May 22!
The scheduled “pick-up” of the items is on June 1st from 10 am-12 pm.*If the form is not filled out, the lock will be taken off (in the gym lockers) and the items in the locker will be discarded. Thank you!
Late work from last week will be graded
I messed up the time for when the assignment for last week was due, so I will grade all work that is turned in, even if it is late. I won’t even look at how late it is, so if you haven’t turned it in yet, be sure to do it ASAP. (No I do not know when I will be able to grade it, so the cut off will be a surprise to all of you and to me, so just do the work now if you haven’t).
This also is an opportunity for all of you to double check that you hit the submission button, because work that is not submitted does not get graded.
Work for week 5 – Periodic table scavenger hunt project
Go find some objects around where you live. Try to find different types of objects or substances (like a tool, a food product/ingredient like baking soda, a piece of art, part of your car, your favorite mug, something from your makeup kit). Choose 3 of these objects or substances to do your project on.
The article of the week is about cell phones, so this could be one of you objects, if you want.
There is a document linked on iLearn that will automatically open make you a copy of the instructions for what you need to figure out and write for this project. You may copy/paste from old work and sentence stems if you want, but do not copy/paste from the internet.
This will take more time than previous weeks, so please start early. The work that is due on Sunday does not need to be perfect, but it must be complete.
If you are having any issues with finding information, or making sense of the document, please post questions to iLearn, bring questions to our video chats, or send me an email.
Grades are always out of 4
I did not reset the points on iLearn to explicitly say “out of 4” so if your grade is a “4 out of 100” just remember that everything is really out of 4.
Sorry for any confusion
