Contact Information
The best way to contact either Mrs. Furlow or Ms. Beydoun:
furlowd@dearbornschools.org
beydouf2@dearbornschools.org
*** Mrs. Furlow is available AFTER school on Wednesdays and Fridays and BEFORE school by appointment if students have questions about classwork, need help/tutoring or to complete retakes for quizzes or tests. (Monday after school does not work due to staff meetings.) Students should communicate with one of us about a day they would like to come in to make sure we are available on that particular day. ***

Blog:
If you would prefer getting notified whenever I create a new post on the blog, you can subscribe to the blog. Whether you are accessing the blog from a computer, tablet, or phone, look for the part of the page that says “Subscribe to Mrs. Furlow’s blog” and enter your email address in the box and click “subscribe”. If you have more than one email address, you can refresh the page and simply enter the other email address in order to get blog updates sent there too. Students- you will not be able to get notifications from the blog sent to your “dearbornschools” email address, as the district settings block any emails except from another “dearbornschools” email. So, use a personal email account to subscribe if you have one. If you don’t have a personal email account, you may just want to bookmark the blog on your phone/home computer/tablet.
Remind:
Besides getting class information through the blog, students or parents are encouraged to sign up for Remind. To sign up for text message alerts from Remind, please text @bryant25 to 81010. I highly recommend that you download the app as well! In the app, login then scroll down the main page to click “Join a Class”. After the @ symbol, type bryant25 and click “Join” and you will be added. Having the app allows you to access all of the classes that you have joined in Remind all in one place, including all the old messages/reminders, so you don’t need to keep all the text messages. Within the app, you are able to click the gear at the upper left to change your account settings for how you would like to receive notifications (i.e. by mobile phone, by email) and even add another phone number or email address if you would like. (Students- I advise you to get reminders on a personal email account if you have one, since email reminders from Remind will get blocked from your “dearbornschools” email account.)
Khan Academy
Be sure that Mrs. Furlow is listed as your teacher on the “Teacher” page in Khan Academy! If you go through Clever I should automatically be added as your Teacher. Sometimes, however, students forget to go through Clever when getting on Khan Academy….that’s okay…add me as a Teacher on that account as well. (The Clever account will usually show a username for you that is your first name followed by three numbers. The account without going through Clever usually shows your username as your Student ID number. Either way, make sure you “sign in with Google” using your Dearborn Schools account.) To add me as a Teacher you will need to “Join a Class” and enter the code for your class hour (listed below).
I will be recommending topics (called “Assignments”) for practice throughout the year! If all of your assignments are caught up, other options for practice could be:
-In the Search bar: type NWEA, then select “MAP Recommended Practice”. Pick one of the subtests (Operations and Algebraic Thinking, Real & Complex Number Systems, Geometry, Statistics & Probability) and practice any of the suggested topics at your NWEA level.
-In the Search bar: type “Common Core 7” and select one of the domains (Geometry, Ratios & Proportional Relationships, Number System, Expressions & Equations, Statistics and Probability). Then pick one of the topics shown under each standard. (Ex. Ratios & Proportions – scroll down to 7.RP.A.3 and notice there are 4 topics that could be practiced.) In the left margin you can select a different domain under Grade 7 at any time.
-In the Search bar: type a specific standard from a handout/quiz/math notebook
-In the Search bar: type in a key word(s) about a topic you feel you need more help with or that you are interested in (even if it is something we have not discussed in class yet). (Ex. “negative fractions” or “area of circles”)
