Welcome to 2019-2020 School Year

Greetings to my Parents and Students,

First, I would like to welcome you and your child to our school. I hope you are ready for some exciting educational experiences. I would like to take the opportunity to introduce myself. My name is Zahera Zahreldin and I am honored to be the  Science teacher at Fordson High School and I am very excited to be here. I am a graduate of the University of Michigan–Dearborn. I hold a Master of Public Administration from the University of Michigan and a teaching certificate from Madonna University. I am looking forward to working with you and your child in reaching his or her full potential. I am eager to get to know you and your child this school year.

We will have many wonderful experiences and opportunities to learn and grow in the days ahead. I believe that by all of us working together we can make this a very successful year. I consider it of high importance that you be an active part of your child’s education. My goal is to teach the students the content matter in a stimulating learning environment that encourages students to trust their own opinions, while fostering confidence in order for students to realize their full potential. My expectation is to maintain a positive learning environment in which respect and responsibility are the two key factors. My teaching philosophy method of facilitating rather than dictating is a highly beneficial style of teaching. I have learned that if students construct their own learning experiences they will not only retain information longer, but they will also become more confident in their abilities.

During my teaching experience, I have worked with many students with different learning styles and abilities. This was an asset because it forced me to learn and practice different teachings techniques. As a science teacher, I am striving to instill the love for science in my students and guiding them towards investigating, questioning, and exploring science with curiosity. I will ensure that students are acquiring knowledge by facilitating the learning process and reinforcing it through hands-on activities. Hands-on activities are an excellent method to construct knowledge, promote collaboration, enhance interaction, and develop critical thinking. It gives students the opportunity to experience science, make mistakes and learn. It also encourages creativity by promoting critical thinking to question and creates new knowledge.

I am looking forward to a wonderful and exciting school year with you and your child! I am very excited and confident that this year of high school will be successful for your student. I will post the unit schedule and assignments online with due date so you and your child can plan ahead. I can be reached by email at zahrelz@dearbornschools.com or you can call and schedule and appointment at 313.827.1400.

Sincerely,

Zahera Zahreldin
