Students will have a test on the important material from Chapter 8- The Ancient Egyptian Pharaohs, on Thursday, December 19th. The study guide is below:

Sumerian City-State Project

Due Date: Thursday, Dec. 5th
Create a model of a Sumerian City- State using Minecraft/ similar construction program (on Minecraft MUST be on flat-land setting), OR you can create a 3-D scale model. Models must be historically accurate (from the textbook) and depict all 7 characteristics of a civilization in Sumerian society. Each characteristic should have a sign as shown below in boldface. Listed below is what your signs should say.
Throughout your Sumerian City-State we should see signs.
Sign 1: Title/Student Names – Ex: Jake Paul and Steph Curry Presents: An Ancient Sumerian City-State.
Sign 2: Ancient Sumer flourished in Mesopotamia between 3500 – 2300 B.C.E. Each City- State was like an independent country.
Sign 3: Moat, city wall. (see p. 39 in textbook)
Sign 4: Stable Food Supply: Irrigation Systems – canals, dams, reservoirs. Farmland with plows, crops, and animals
Sign 5: Social Structure: We should see houses for Top level, middle level, and bottom level as described on p. 48
Sign 6: Government: We should see military sites or king’s palace.
Sign 7: Religion: We should see Ziggurat (tallest building) stairway and shrine at the top

I will be available Wednesday, November 20, 2019 both before and after school for students who were absent on the testing day or would like a chance to retake the test due to a less than favorable grade.
The test for Chapters 4 and 5 will be moved to Thursday, November 14th. Students have the study guide and all the relevant information can be found in their student notebook.
