Monday, September 14

Bell Work: What is a word processor?

  1. Create a folder on your HDrive and name it Computer Applications.
  2. Inside that folder, create another folder and name it MS Word.
  3. To the best of your ability, create block style business letter, and save it as “Last initial.First name .Pre-block.”
  4. If time permits, review keyboarding skills

How to create a folder: 

  1. Double click the computer icon on your desktop
  2. Double click your student ID
  3. Click on the word “folder” at the top left of your screen
  4. Name the folder Computer Applications

 How to drag files from the Student Share Drive:

  1. Double click the computer icon on your desktop
  2. Double click your student ID; you should now see your class folder
  3. Minimize and move the screen slightly to the left
  4. Double click the computer icon again
  5. Double click stushare
  6. Click on FHS; Fadlallah, Amira;
  7. Open the pickup folder
  8. Minimize the screen like you did above
  9. Click on the bell work handout, keep your finger on the mouse and drag it to your folder.

Bell Work: What do you think is the inside address in a block style letter?

Content Objectives: Students will demonstrate knowledge of:

– basic MS Word formats

– the organization and

format of a bock style business letter

Language Objectives: Using MS Word, students will create, format, save, and DROP a block style business letter. Save the letter as Last initial. First name. Request

–       If time permits, review keyboarding skills

 

Wednesday, September 16

Bell Work: In a block style letter, what do salutation and complimentary close mean?

Content Objectives: Students will demonstrate knowledge of:

– basic MS Word formats

– the organization and format of a bock style business letter

Language Objectives: Students will: – create a foldable explaining the block style letter format

–       Review simple MS Word formats

 

Thursday, September 17

Bell Work: Customize your Quick Access Tool Bar to include spelling/grammar check and print preview. Then, in your BW document, explain how you customized it.

Content Objectives: Students will demonstrate knowledge of: – Basic MS Word formats and the ability to follow document instructions in the book Language Objectives: Students will read and apply document book instructions in order to complete Orientation; beginning on page 45. Save as: Last initials. First name. Orientation; do NOT drop today.

 

 

Friday, September 18 (DO NOT PRINT AT ANY TIME)

Bell Work: Customize the Status Bar to include page number; line number; and the number of words. Then, in your BW document, explain how you customized it.

Content Objectives: Students will demonstrate knowledge of: – Basic MS Word formats and the ability to follow document instructions in the book

Language Objectives: Students will read and apply book instructions in order to complete and DROP Orientation from yesterday. If time permits, logon to typing web.

Bell Work: 1. How many returns must you press after a block style letter salutation? 2. How would you show/hide    formatting marks?

Content Objectives: Students will demonstrate knowledge of: – Basic MS Word formats and the ability to follow document instructions in a handout. Language Objectives: Students will read and apply instructions on a teacher handout in order to complete, format, and DROP “Attitude” Save as “Last initial. First name.Attitude.” If time permits, logon to typing web.

 

Tuesday, September 22 (DROP BW)                                                        

Bell Work: 1. what is the quickest way to select an entire page? 2. What are the default margins in MS Word?

  1. How would you set the margins and change the orientation of a Word document?
Content Objectives: Students will demonstrate knowledge of: – Basic MS Word formats and the ability to follow document instructions in a handout.

Language Objectives: Students will retrieve “Attitude” and save it as “Last initial. First name.Attitude_2.” DROP when done. If time permits, logon to typing web.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Monday, September 28 (Pick up BW2)                                                     

Bell Work: 1. what is the difference between superscript and subscript? 2. How would you justify a paragraph in MS Word?

Content Objectives: Students will demonstrate knowledge of: – Basic MS Word formats and the ability to follow document instructions in a handout.

Language Objectives: Students will create and turn in a bubble map answering: What are the advantages of using a word processor? (at least 4 bubbles) When finished, students must logon to typing web and practice keyboarding.

 

Tuesday, September 29                                                                  

Bell Work: 1. what is the first thing you must do when opening a new MS Word document?

Content Objectives: Students will demonstrate knowledge of: – creating and formatting a block style letter.

Language Objectives: Students will key and DROP a block style business letter as a quiz. Handouts are with the teacher.

When finished, students must logon to typing web and practice keyboarding.
