Dear Families, I hope that everyone is doing well and that all of our mothers had a wonderful Mother’s Day! This week we will be switching the Google Meet scheduled for Wednesday’s at 9:00 AM to Thursday’s at 1:00 PM. I haven’t had any attendance on Wednesday’s for several weeks, so I am moving it to the afternoon to see if more students are able to attend. The notice home does not reflect this change, so I will plan on being there this Wednesday along with Thursday (the login should still work). Also, I know that getting packets from the mail hasn’t been reliable. Beginning next week, the transportation department will be delivering packets to students homes on Monday’s to ensure they are received on time. I hope that everyone has a great week and I look forward to seeing you soon!

This weeks daily living skill is washing the laundry. Remember, there are many skills to practice when completing this chore. Placing dirty laundry in a basket, sorting the laundry, carrying the basket to the laundry room, putting the clothes in the washer, adding detergent, turning on the washer are all skills needed to complete this task. It’s ok if some of the skills are not accessible to you at this time, the most important part of teaching a new skill is engaging in the activity as much as possible. This will lead to greater independence.

The recipe for the week is Mac n’ Cheese. This is also a classroom favorite! My daughter made the recipe this week and I filmed it. There are a few bloopers where I thought I wasn’t recording, ha ha! I’m not great at filming or editing so I thought I could record in zoom and pause as I needed (if you have any tips or suggestions, please share). It worked out ok and I will be doing it again next week! I hope you enjoy the video. I would love to hear if you made the recipe with your family or if you you helped cook something else! Also, If you have a special request for a recipe, please let me know. I’m happy to find visual recipes for your family to cook together.
