Today we worked on Test practice questions for bell work and we began our comic strips on the Paleolithic and Neolithic Ages. Students had all hour to work on this and many took it home to finish. If you were absent today, you will need colored pencils, scissors, and glue to complete the comic strip. Here is the comic strip if you were absent today. AW_LM_SH_03-4

Today in class we read sections 5 and 6 and worked on reading notes for sections 4 and 5. If students did not finish in class it was for homework. We also watched a short video clip, “From hunters and gatherers to farmers”. We discussed the importance of the fertile crescent, and how the Paleolithic and Neolithic ages evolved. Tomorrow you will be getting your illustrated dictionary back. Please make sure you start reviewing your vocabulary words each night for five minutes.

Today we compared the Paleolithic age(old stone age) and the Neolithic age (new stone age). We read sections 3 and 4 in our books and completed section 3 notes in our interactive notebook. Here is a powerpoint comparing the two stone ages.

Today we took our test on chapter 1 and we began previewing chapter 3 in our History Alive books. Please keep in mind that I will take half off on late assignments for this new marking period. If you are absent it is your responsibility to ask me what was missed or to check the blog.

Today we finished up chapter 1 investigating the past in our History Alive book. Tomorrow we will complete the study guide in class and go over it. Test will be on Monday, October 13, 2014. Tomorrow is the last day of card marking. I will post the study guide  on the blog tomorrow if you are absent.

Today we worked on sections 4-9 in our student interactive notebooks. Please finish for homework if you didn’t in class today. We will go over the assignment in class tomorrow. We also did an essential question on chart paper using sticky notes, “How do scientists interpret the past?” Looking ahead……Friday you will get your study guide for chapter 1 investigating the past and test will be on Monday, October 13, 2014.

Today we watched CNN student news and wrote in our bell work from the topics we watched. Bellwork for the week was also checked. We finished our “setting the stage” interactive notebook pgs. 1,2, and 3. We watched a short clip on how people lived in the stone ages to give them prior learning before we start investigating the chapter.

Parents….I told all my hours today that I will be handing out detentions if the books are not covered by Tuesday, October 7, 2014. These are brand new books and cost $100.00 each. They need to be covered and kept in that condition.

CVS has them for $1.99.

Today we started Unit 1 “Setting the stage” in our History Alive books. Students began working in their interactive books pgs 1 to 3.  For homework, Vocabulary illustrated dictionaries terms were sent home and are due tomorrow beginning of class.

BOOK COVERS! PLEASE SEND THOSE IN. Many students still need to get them. These are brand new books and need to stay in this condition.

Today our projects were due and we began our country presentations for the five themes of geography. Students, in the future if you don’t have a printer at home please inform me ahead of time. You can go and print it out in the library. I can not accommodate you the day it is due like I did today. You had plenty of time to work on this. I am here to help you but I would appreciate a notice next time.
