Week 2: Online Learning

Hey, hey, hey Fifth grade families!

We are on our second week of online learning, and hopefully you are starting to get into a bit of a routine.  It’s really important you create a daily schedule for yourself.  Be sure to include brain-breaks and time for lunch and snack in there as well.

🤗

I have been really IMPRESSED by many of you that are taking this extended learning opportunity so seriously!  Great job!  IReady minutes are being met, Zearn lessons are being completed, , Khan Academy minutes being met, summaries for reading are being entered in Google Classroom, PBWs have been submitted, Word Work has been completed, many of you have been joining our video-conferencing, and so many more great things are being done!  Keep up the amazing work!! For those of you that may have had a slow start last week, it’s a brand-new week, so here’s your chance to start fresh, and to BE THE BEST version of yourself!

PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE, let me know if you have any questions!  I am here to help you with all of this!

💻

Also, here is a guideline for your week to help you get organized:

  • IReady: 30 mins a day (150 mins by Friday evening)
  • Read: 30-45 mins a day
  • Summaries on what you read: 4 summaries entered into 1 document in our Work on Writing Google Classroom titled: “Reading Summary Document 2″

Please Have Students Check Their School Email (Gmail).

Hi there!

I am emailing students often regarding updates, assignments, and just saying hi! Please have your student check their email throughout the day if possible. If they have a phone, changing the settings within the Gmail app to receive notifications might be helpful as well.

As we continue to fine-tune our opportunities for online learning, I would like to sincerely thank all of you for your efforts to support our students’ continued education during these very unique times. Thank you, thank you, thank you!

Below are the steps on how students can access their email:

  • Check student email daily by following these steps:
    • Use the Clever Link provided here: http://clever.com/in/dearborn?skip=1
    • Scroll down to Google Apps
    • Click on the Gmail icon. (It is red and white and looks like an envelope with a red “M”).
    • Once you click on it you should have some emails from me (Mr. D).
    • If you received the email, please reply to it when you can.

Thank you for all your support!

–Mr. D

Virtual Math Lesson!

Hey Team 5th Grade!
Watch this lesson, and interact with it as much as you can.  You’ll need paper and pencil.  You can pause at any time.  I suggest you do the first 15 mins, take a brain break, then do the second 15 mins.  Try the best you can to stop and work the problems out. You can download the Problem Set also!
Let’s talk about the lesson during our video chat today!
