Personal Belongings Pick Up and Collection of DuVall Items – June 2nd

DuVall Families,

As our school year winds down, we have scheduled Tuesday, June 2nd as a day to allow families to pick up personal belongings that have been left at school due to the shutdown.  During this time, we will follow the same procedure that was used during the distribution of chromebooks and math materials to allow families to get back personal items for students that were left in desks/coat racks.  Also, we will collect any music instruments, library books, safety vests, and other classroom items that were borrowed prior to the COVID 19 Shutdown.  As learning is still taking place, a future date will be shared when any chromebooks on loan will be returned.  Please hand any returned items to the staff member assisting you and  any items will then be returned to the building.

The procedure allows for parents to drive up to the bus lane on Francis Street near the preschool door (door 4) on Tuesday, June 2nd.  Parents/ Guardians must have a Driver’s ID.  A DuVall staff member will bring the parent the bagged student belongings.  Please follow the schedule of distribution for classes below so that we can have an orderly distribution of the student property

11:20 – 11:40  Mrs. Ranka

11:40 – 12:00  Mrs. Moon

Thank you for following the above guidelines and schedule for distribution to make this process possible as well as for the DuVall staff members who will be assisting during processing and distribution days.

Message regarding 5th Grade Slideshow – time sensitive

Dear 5th grade parents,

I am currently in the process of putting together a slideshow for the 5th graders to recap the years they have spent at DuVall and the friendships they have made.  I have set up a share site on my Amazon Prime account to allow all of you to upload your own photos taken through the years to help me with this project.  I would love to make sure each child will be able to see themselves in lots of the photos so I need your help!  Here’s what I’m mainly looking for:
1) A first day of kindergarten or first grade photo (even if he/she was not at DuVall at the time).
2) Special photos of classmates together, photos of their teachers and principals at DuVall, photos of any school events with your child, classmates, or family.
3) Fun short videos (20 seconds or less), preferably ones that can be included with no sound, since it will be set to music.

4) Fun Quarantine photos.

*The higher the resolution of the photos the better, since we will be projecting them on a screen.
Please upload your photos using the following link as soon as possible (as I am working on the show now)  but no later than May 20.  This is a very time consuming project to please meet this deadline!
https://www.amazon.com/photos/groups/share/0rJ6ha-CQ2OzCYS-fQBlKA.Jw47qDQRHD0H9kmI_YBzkd
As I don’t have a 5th grader, I don’t know all the kids, so please try to label the photos when you upload if you can!  I will do my very best to ensure everyone is represented, but I can only do that if you send me pics!
This is also a good opportunity for all of us to share the precious photos you’ve taken over the years with each other.  I have already uploaded a number of photos- you can download or order prints of photos from the share site.
If you have any problems, please text me at 313-319-7199 or email at robbin.tenglin@gmail.com.  If you do the uploading on your smartphone, you may need to install the Amazon Prime Photo App.
Thank you for your help with this very meaningful project!

Monday, May 11th

I hope all you hard working moms had a terrific Mother’s Day and were spoiled in some way!

Passion Projects are due on Flipgrid this Tuesday. Please help your child with this task by videoing and editing as needed so they can be proud and excited to showcase it! We are very excited to see what each child feels passionate about!

We are going to still try to do some 5th grade things to honor our kids. Attached is a pdf of the document Mrs. Bagdonas will need emailed back to her so she can complete the 5th Grade Books.  Either print & have your child complete the questions in Black or Blue ink and return to me with a picture (size to fit in the box on the page)  or type into the form & email a picture that she can print.  If they have any questions – you can call her directly on her cell 313-766-8387.  Her address is 22668 Beech, Dearborn, MI 48124. She needs all sheets back to her by Tuesday, May 26th.

The menus for May 11-15  are below, your child can access these on GC Daily 5 and should use them as a checklist to keep track of what they have done each day. This way, if you get an email from me stating that your child hasn’t completed all of their work, you and he/she can easily see what is missing. The students need to take responsibility and complete their work everyday. This way, they won’t get behind. Please ask your child to SHOW you what they have and haven’t done before asking me.

Have a great week!

May 4th

Good Morning! I hope that everyone had a chance to get outside and enjoy the beautiful weather. Last week, I sent emails to those students and some parents who hadn’t completed their work. Please help your child stay on track by asking them about their work EVERYDAY! In order for me to grade work on time, the students need to turn their work in on time. Thank you for your support on this.

On another note, if you family or child needs any support, please reach out to me. I am happy to help. I am worried about those students who aren’t completing any work so please keep me informed so that I can provide support to your child.

Math Book/ Remote Learning Materials Distribution – Tuesday, May 5th

DuVall Families,

In order to assist families with the continuation of remote learning, our staff has gathered student math books that we are planning on distributing on Tuesday, May 5th.  At this time, the math books along with some specific grade level supplies (and registration information for next year) will be distributed for each student.  Personal items that were not picked up on March 13th will not be distributed at this time.  Parents and students will not be allowed to enter the building as the learning resources will be brought to your vehicle by a staff member.  We are going to follow the same safety protocols that were used with the chromebook distribution.

Parents will drive up to the bus lane on Francis Street near the preschool door (door 4) on Tuesday, May 5th.  Please follow traffic rules and allow for distance between vehicles while the materials distribution is taking place. If your family has multiple siblings in our building, please indicate the names of the students so that you can make one trip.

Monday, April 27th- No “Meetings” this Week!

I hope that everyone enjoyed their weekend. There were some issues with Google Meets last week so the district has asked us to suspend all google meetings until further notice. I am hoping to be meeting again with the students by next week but as of now, we will NOT be “meeting” with the students this week. Below are the menus for the week. They post each morning on Google Classroom Daily 5 for the students to view.
