A Message from Mr. Attee

DuVall families,
Our students will be painting rocks with your help in preparation for our Peace Day Project. On Thursday, September 26, we are asking parent or guardian volunteers to contact me (Mr. Attee) to help students with this project.  During this time, students will get a kindness rock from the PTA and write a message of kindness on the rock with the support of the parent/ guardians volunteers.  On October 3, our students will take their kindness rocks to the butterfly garden and place them so that their message of kindness can be viewed by anyone walking by!  Thank you for your help and support.

September 16-20

Don’t forget this Friday is 1/2 day and also, if your child is going to camp, send the paperwork in that you got at open house.

We are having a fundraiser for camp, Buffalo Wild Wings on Monday, September 23. Also, they will donate 20% of earnings for $25 gift cards purchased. Order forms will come home today and need to come back by Friday, holidays are coming and it’s a great opportunity to shop early! I will let you know the final amount owed for camp by the end of the month.

The mid-module assessment for math, lessons 1-8 will be tomorrow. The students have the review and the test is VERY similar to it. Encourage your child to read over the review and practice anything that was a struggle

Free DSO Concert

The DSO is offering a free concert at the FCPACon Sept. 22 at 3:00 p.m..  Feel free to pass this on to anyone that may enjoy a free concert.  Hope to see you there!

Concert Description:

On Sunday, September 22 at 3 PM, the DSO will give a free performance at the Ford Community and Performing Arts Center, sponsored by the DTE Energy Foundation. Across all of its 2019-2020 programming, the DSO celebrates the centennial of Orchestra Hall, built in 1919 as the first permanent home of the orchestra. From 1941-1951, Orchestra Hall became the Paradise Theatre, a celebrated venue for jazz and blues artists. The 2019-2020 season also marks the 20th anniversary of the DSO’s Paradise Jazz Series, which takes its name from Orchestra Hall’s ten-year history as the Paradise Theatre.

Join conductor Jacob Joyce as the Detroit Symphony Orchestra celebrates the centennial of Orchestra Hall, featuring works performed during the Orchestra’s first season at Orchestra Hall. The DSO pays tribute to the hall’s jazz roots with a performance of Duke Ellington Fantasy, a nod to the Paradise Theatre’s earliest concerts, which included a date featuring Duke Ellington just four weeks after the venue opened.
