For the next several weeks, the weather will change throughout the day. This makes it difficult to dress appropriately. I explained to the students today that it is best to bring a coat, even a vest or light-weight one, to school EVERYDAY.
I will not allow anyone without a coat to go outside when it is below 40 degrees. I am not a stickler about coats usually, but below 40 is cold. It is NOT my policy to make students wear coats if they bring them to school. I would prefer them to bring the coats and if the temperature rises throughout the day, they will not be required to wear them.
As a parent of a 10 and 11 year old boys, I understand that they get hot when running around. So, if its below 40, a coat (even a light-weight) is required and long sleeves are required if under 50. Other than that, 5th graders are old enough to gauge their personal temperature. Thank you in advance for helping your child bring a coat to school daily until the weather breaks.
