The week of March 20 – 24, 2017

Today is parent-teacher conferences for the middle school students from 3:15 PM to 6:15 PM.  This is a first come, first served process. Parents/guardians can pick up report cards in the cafeteria or gym.  Each teacher will hold the conferences in his/her classroom.  Each conference has a time limit of 5 minutes.

In the 6th grade, we will continue to focus on narrative text features, focusing on point of view, theme, mood, tone, and interpretation.  In the 7th grade, we will continue to intersperse poetry with narrative text.  Poetry will focus on rhyme scheme, tone, mood, figurative language, and interpretation.  The narrative text will focus on point of view, theme, mood, tone, and interpretation.

The spring NWEA assessment will be upon us in April.  The M-STEP assessment will be upon us in April / May.

Please continue to read 20 minutes a night.  Please continue to be engaged in the classroom readings and discussions.  Each of us can learn from other people’s points of view and experiences.  That is one of the beautiful things about teaching language arts.  The students that participate continue to grow in their thought processes and advance.  The students that refuse to participate will remain stagnant in their thought processes.

Have a great week!!

Thank you,

Mr. Drinkert
