Good morning,
We will continue working on synonyms and antonyms of vocabulary words, as well as identifying commonalities among different cultures using the Cinderella theme (6th grade), but in the 7th grade, identifying elements of fiction and nonfiction, along with moving into writing an allegory. That is taking a historical event/person(s) and using animals or inanimate objects to explain the event/person(s).
Many students improved their argumentative writing with respect to staying focused throughout the essay, improved organization, accurately citing the source in the essay, using accurate language, and having fewer errors in grammar.
March is Reading Month! There is a push to have the students read throughout the month which is great, but shouldn’t we be reading every month? Through reading, a person is able to problem solve, such as ‘go back and re-read’, ask questions while reading. Also, the problem solving skills in reading will follow into every day life and lead to a more confident person; therefore, the person is more likely to make positive choices which will impact his/her life.
Have a great rest of the week!!
Thank you,
Mr. Drinkert
