The week of February 5 – 9, 2018

Good afternoon everyone,

This week, we focused on the district-mandated cold read and cold write post-assessment to see how my students compare with the cold read and cold write from September.  Once the essays are checked, each student will have an opportunity to revise and edit the essay to raise his/her grade.  This is a formative assessment.

In the near future, we will focus on historical text and writing for the sixth and seventh grade students.

The article of the week was collected this past Wednesday.  Be sure to read, annotate, and answer the questions.  This assignment will have more rigor, which means require more thinking.  It also replaces the reading response journal.

However, each student is expected to read 20 minutes, four times per week.  The reading log is to be signed by the parents/guardians.
