Good morning,
The 7th grade students are in the midst of taking the ELA M-STEP assessment . Next week, the 6th grade students will take the ELA M-STEP assessment.
Very soon, the building principal will be mailing letters home regarding summer school, summer blended, and summer learning. Summer school is at Dearborn High School. Each student will be required to pay his/her tuition and find a ride to DHS. Summer school is for students who have two or more failing grades on their report card. Summer blended is for students that are two grades below in reading OR have not met the one year’s growth in reading. Summer learning is for every student who is not in summer school nor summer blended. The requirements for summer learning include reading 60 minutes per week over the summer on MobyMax. In addition to MobyMax, each student will be required to read three books over the summer, fill out an index card with certain information for each book, and prepare a book talk for the teacher for one of the books in the fall. The summer learning is a drastic change for many of our students. This is an attempt to end the summer slide that takes place each year. Educating oneself does not end because the summer arrives.
Have a great week!!
