Good morning everyone,
This week is the final week for the 3rd card marking, which also ends the 1st semester. As we look back at the first half of the school year, it is a great time to reflect upon the successes accomplished and seek improvements upon our failures.
Friday, January 27th is a half-day for ALL Dearborn Public Schools students. Monday, January 30th is a half-day for ONLY secondary students (6th grade through 12 grade). The 3rd card marking report cards usually will be handed to each student one week after the card marking ends, which would be February 3rd. Some students will have their elective classes changing, but the core classes will remain the same (LA, Math, Science, Social Studies).
Also, this week is the NWEA Language Usage test. This test consists of conventions, such as spelling, punctuation, capitalization, subject-verb agreement, and the writing process. Next week is the NWEA Science test.
Each student will be expected to write a reflection paragraph upon completion of each NWEA test. This reflection will look at the two academic goals for each core subject. Then, each student will type the reflection in his/her ePortfolio on Mahara. This is a district-initiative from Dr. Maleyko, the district superintendent.
Have a great week!!
Mr. Drinkert
