Happy New Year!! I trust that everyone had a restful break. The coming weeks are busy. This week, we will begin the NWEA Math test on Wednesday through Friday (January 11 – 13).
We do not have school on Monday, January 16th, to observe Martin Luther King, Jr.’s Remembrance Day. Then, January 17th through the 19th, we will take the NWEA Reading test.
The reading and math tests will be used to begin placing students for summer school. If your son/daughter is two grades or lower below grade level in math and/or reading, he/she will be recommended for summer school.
For Language Arts class, aside from testing, we will continue focusing on figurative language. Test re-takes will be given some time next week after school. In order for a student to take the test re-take, he/she will need to correct the original test errors, have a parent signature on the original test, complete two assignments, plus fill out the test re-take ticket. Failure to complete all tasks in a timely fashion will result in a denial to take the re-take.
Thank you,
Mr. Drinkert
