The Week of September 19, 2016 – September 23, 2016

Hello everyone,

The open house from last week went very well.  It is great to see so many smiling faces.  In the event that you were not able to attend open house, you can contact me through email, a phone call, or in person.  If you come to my classroom, please check in with the front office staff first.  My prep is from 1:36 PM to 2:34 PM.

Tuesday of this week, my classes will be doing a “cold read” for the district argumentative essay pre-assessment.  Each student will read and annotate today.

Wednesday of this week, my classes will be planning and drafting the argumentative essay pre-assessment.  Each student will plan and draft today.  Also, each Wednesday, your son/daughter will be turning in one reading response journal sheet. We have done this in class, so every student should have the assignment completed already.

For the rest of the week, we will focus on reading an argumentative text and annotating the text.  Then, we will construct an argumentative essay using key vocabulary words.  I don’t want to give out too much information as that might assist some students in their essay writing for Wednesday.

Since we have gone to the school media center today (Monday), please read 20 minutes per night to keep raising those NWEA scores.
