Dear First Grade Families,                                                5-12-14

Spelling booklets will be sent home today.  Please sign and return.

The Unit 8 Math Review packet will be sent home today.  Please review with your child.  We will have the Unit 8 Math test on Wednesday.

Writing lessons will include informational writing.  Students will write about a topic and include a topic sentence, facts and closing sentence.

Science lessons continue to include study of the three states of matter. (solid, liquid, gas)

Social Studies lessons will continue to focus on rules and ways to get along with others.

Reminders:  Read for homework 15 minutes or more.  On Friday, we will have our spelling test, Gym, and return library books.

Unit 8 Math lessons will include counting money; place value; hundreds, tens and ones; fractions; addition and subtraction.

Social Studies lessons will continue to focus on rules and ways to get along with others.

Dear First Grade Families,                                                           4-14-14

On Thursday, April 17, 2014, we will have a Spring Vacation celebration in the afternoon.  Students will make a craft, play a game, and watch a movie.   Your child may bring a treat to share.  We have 19 students in our class.

Spelling booklets will be sent home today.  Please sign and return.

Our Unit 7 Math test wil be on Thursday.   It is a shorter unit of study.  I will send home a review packet on Tuesday.  Please help your child review for the test.

Social Studies lessons will focus on identifying symbols of the United States.

Science and writing lessons involve research of the three states of matter. (solid, liquid, gas)

Writing lessons will involve how-to writing.  We will review how to make a paper chain and how to make a cake this week.
