Dear First Grade Families,                                                       3-3-14

March is reading month.  Please encourage your child to read and participate in our reading challenge.  We will visit the book fair today.  If your child would like to buy books later in the week, they are allowed to visit the book fair.

Spelling booklets will be sent home today.  Please sign and return.

Unit 5 Math lessons include comparing numbers using <, >, and = symbols; counting coins; reading a thermometer; telling time; addition and subtraction.  Friday we will have the computation timed math test.  Practice pages will be sent home today.

Social Studies lessons continue to focus on the study of Economics.

Science lessons focus on the sky and weather.

Writing lessons will involve how-to writing.  We will review how to make a paper chain and how to make a cake this week.

Reminders:  Read for homework 15 minutes or more.  On Friday we will have our Spelling and Math computation tests, gym and return library books.
