Dear First Grade Families, 9-26-16
Spelling booklets will be sent home today. Please sign and return your child’s booklet.
I am sending home a sight word booklet. Please help your child study the words as a part of reading homework. Reading homework includes reading 15 minutes or more daily. This really helps to improve your child’s reading level.
Math lessons include addition; counting using tally marks, a number grid and number line; and using graphs. For math computation practice, students will focus on adding 2 to various numbers. I will not be giving the adding 2 math test this week. Students will take the test next week.
Writing lessons will focus on writing personal narratives.
Science lessons involve study of the three states of matter. Students will learn how to identify a solid, liquid and gas.
Our Social Studies unit of study is “How To Get Along With Others.” Students are learning about ways to get along with others as they work in cooperative learning groups. The importance of following school rules is also included in the unit.
Reminders: Wear gym shoes and return library books on Monday.
Have a great week!
Mrs. Dobronski
