Remote Learning Plans June 8 – 11 – Monday – Thursday

Dear First Grade Families,

I hope everyone is doing well. Happy last week of school!

Our last day of online school is Thursday, June 11. On Thursday, between 10:00 – 11:30 a.m., there will be a student and parent drive through in front of the school on Silvery Lane. During the drive through, you can get your Haigh school yearbook and wave good-bye to all of the teachers as you stay in your car. If you can’t go to the drive through, if you ordered a yearbook, it will be mailed to your house. Also, the student report cards will be mailed home. You can also check parent connect to view your child’s report card online. There is a different grading system for the last report card. Grading will include an M for meeting expectations; P for progressing, meaning some work was turned in online; or LP for limited participation turning in online assignments.

For extra practice during the summer, your child can continue to use Reading Eggs, Math Seeds, RAZ Kids and Zearn to maintain and develop academic skills. When my children were young, we always made time to do some academic work during the summer so they would be prepared for school in the fall. It makes a huge difference in your child’s academic performance if you take the time to do this.

Here are the assignments for the week.  I am posting assignments for the week on my blog, through Class dojo.com, and through readworks.org.  Please help your child complete the assignments.  At this point, students will be earning credit for doing school work and grades will be entered in the grade book.  Students will receive a report card for the online work your child is doing at home.  Please email me anytime if you have questions regarding your child’s online assignments.

Reading – 20 minutes per day

Monday Reading – Log in to readworks.org and read, “Troy’s Treat.”  Answer the questions and submit work.  Read on Raz Kids for extra practice.

Tuesday Reading –  Read on Reading Eggs for extra practice.

Wednesday Reading –  Read on RAZ Kids for extra practice.

Thursday Reading – Read on Reading Eggs or RAZ Kids.

Monday – Write about what you did on the weekend.

Tuesday – Write about your favorite subject in school.

Wednesday – Write about your plans for the summer.

Math – 20 minutes per day

For Math practice, students can use Math Seeds or Zearn.  Students can also practice counting money or telling time.  Please have your child go to Knowledge on the Go or the Engage New York website to do the Eureka Math lessons.  You can also use the Succeed Eureka Math book to practice the lessons.

Monday – Do Lesson 12 in Module 5

Tuesday – Do Lesson 13 in Module 5

Wednesday – Practice math on Math Seeds or Zearn.

Thursday – Practice math on Math Seeds or Zearn.

Science – Go to the Mystery Science website and follow the first grade Mystery Science lesson, “How Is A Rainbow Made?”

Social Studies – Students are learning about family history.  You can look at photographs of your family with your child and discuss how people are related and family memories.

Please let me know if you need help with any of the online assignments.

Thank you so much for all of the help with the online assignments. This has been a very challenging time for everyone. Parents and students have done a great job adjusting to online learning. I will miss everyone and I hope you have a wonderful summer. Please help your child make time to read and do some math work over the summer. This will help your child maintain and develop academic skills so they are ready for second grade in the fall.

Take Care,

Mrs. Dobronski
