Dear First Grade Families, 9-16-19

Spelling booklets will be sent home today. Please sign your child’s spelling test and return the booklet.

For the first report card marking period, students will be learning about the following:

Reading lessons will include reading a variety of stories and practicing retelling the sequence of events. Students will also be reading informational text and identifying facts about topics.

Writing lessons will include writing personal narrative experience stories. Students will also write informational facts about various topics.

Math lessons focus on addition, subtraction, number bonds, and number stories. We are using the Eureka math program.

The Social Studies unit of study is “How To Get Along With Others.” Students are learning about the importance of rules, fairness, and responsibility.

Science lessons will include the study of light waves and sound waves.

On Friday, September 20, 2019, students have a half day of school. Dismissal will be at 11:45 a.m.

Reminders: Read 15 minutes or more for homework and record minutes read on the September reading log. Wear gym shoes and return library books on Friday.
